Chrysler recalls 644K Jeeps due to ignition switch problem

Chrysler Group LLC is recalling 643,618 Jeep models due to faulty ignition switches. In certain model year 2005-07 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2006-07 Jeep Commander vehicles, the ignition switch may be knocked out of the run position and into the "off" or Accessory" positions, knocking out the use of power brakes, power steering and air bags, increasing the risk of a crash and injury in the event of a traffic collision. The recall number is P41. A remedy is still under development. Chrysler will notify owners of the recall in September. For information, call Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403.
