Survey work for drainage project begins Tuesday near Fishhook

Survey work related to an upcoming drainage project will require lane closures in Santa Cruz. When drainage work begins Monday, June 23, work will occur overnight in the left southbound lane of Highway 1 and southbound Highway 17 to Southbound Highway 1 connector. The southbound onramp at Pasatiempo also will be closed. Crews will work 9 p.m. t0 6 a.m. Delays of up to 10 minutes should be expected. The project is to wrap up by the end of July. The $200,000 project will install additional drainage along southbound Highway 1 between the Emeline Street overcrossing and Carbonera Creek Bridge near the Fishhook. Graniterock Construction of Watsonville is the contractor on the project. Motorists are reminded to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones. It's the law.
