Sink hole repair begins Tuesday

Work to repair a sink hole on West Cliff Drive between Woodrow Avenue and Columbia Street begins Tuesday, June 3 and continues through Friday, July 4. Located just seaward of the West Cliff pathway, the sink hole is connected to a sea cave. Due to wave action, it opened up March 1and is now 20 feet wide and nearly 40 feet deep. An intermittent detour begins Wednesday, June 4 and will be in place weekdays around the project, which begins a week early due to public safety concerns. The sink hole can be dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, alike. Send questions and/or concerns regarding this sinkhole project to Steve Wolfman, public works associate civil engineer, at 831-420-5428. Report sink holes during office hours by calling the Public Works Department at 831-420-5160. If one opens up during evenings or weekends, call 911.
