BMW recalls 50K motorcycles due to fuel leak concerns

Concerns about a possible fuel leak has BMW or North America recalling 50,184 certain model year 2005-11 R-model motorcycles, 2005-12 K-model motorcycles, 2010-11 1000-model motorcycles and 2006-10 HP2 motorcycles. The problem in the affected motorcycles is that the fuel pump flange and auxiliary fuel pump flange, if equipped, could crack and leak fuel. If an ignition source is nearby, a fire may result. BMW is reaching out to owners while dealers will either reinforce the fuel pump flange or replace the pump for free. The recall is to begin next month.
