Who’s responsible for curb strip area at end of my driveway?, reader asks.

Dear Street Smarts, Q: I am new to the area and reside in the Rio del Mar area of Aptos. I would like to know who is responsible for repair and maintenance of the curb strip at the end of my driveway, the county or the homeowner? There are no sidewalks here, just a cement strip at the end of the driveway at the gutter. Thanks! Kim Smith, Rio del Mar A: This kind of maintenance belongs to the property owner, according to county public works officials. Learn more by calling the Public Works Encroachments line at 454-2160.
