Huge road project to cause delays on Soquel at Park Way

Dear Street Smarts, Q: There are signs warning of very delayed traffic in Santa Cruz between Park Way and Morrissey on Soquel between December and April. What are they going to do? When exactly does work start? Will one lane be open or will there be a flagger? I use this street a lot so I really need to know. Thanks, Linda Hagar via email A: A huge project is coming down the pike that involves widening Soquel Avenue to install east- and westbound protected left turn lanes at Park Way. From Monday, Dec. 9 through May 2014, improvements also will be made to traffic signals, signs and striping, retaining walls, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps and storm drain systems. All road users should expect delays as this project calls for lane closures weekdays on Soquel Avenue, Park Way and Park Way South.
