More than 6K people participate in Bike to Work Day
The chilly morning air didn't keep more than 6,000 school kids and community members rom riding their bicycles to school and work during Thursday's Bike to Work event organized by Ecology Action. The cyclists logged in at one of 16 free breakfast or school sites countywide. Bike to Work day occurs each May and October, growing bigger and bigger with each event, which includes free breakfast, coffee, massage and bike maintenance. The spring event offers a week of events, including a parade and cycling education. The event is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, City of Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District, Whole Foods, The Bicycle Trip, City of Watsonville, Fox Racing Shox, Odwalla, Whole Foods, Santa Cruz Sentinel, Jamba Juice, Giro and UCSC TAPS.
