Tracking cyclists trips to improve the experience, facilities in the Monterey Bay region

The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments is giving cyclists a place to help local governments understand their needs and plan for better bicycle facilities. The Marina-based agency has launched, an interactive Google Map that aims to build upon its Cycle Tracks smartphone app, released in 2011 to collect data on bike trips throughout the Monterey Bay region. The project will run through the summer of 2014. Funding comes from a Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District grant.
