Roll away issue has Toyota issuing recall of 615K Sienna vehicles

Toyota is recalling 614,722 model year 2004-05 and 2007-09 Sienna vehicles because of concern that the shift lever may be moved out of the park position without depressing the brake pedal. A problem with the shift lock solenoid may allow the shift lever to move out of park without first depressing the brake pedal, thus the transmission can either engage the drive gear or neutral, increasing the risk of back over or roll away crash. Notifications will go out late this month. When parts are available, a second notice will be sent to vehicle owners and dealers will make the repairs for free. For information, call Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
