First fall installment of CHP’s ‘Start Smart’ course Thursday

Traffic collisions continue to be leading cause of death for 15-20 year olds. Thus, the CHP invites teen drivers and their families to learn the rules of the road as well as the dangers of being a young person behind the wheel of a car. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, participants will learn about defensive driving, traffic laws, the dynamics of traffic collisions, peer pressure and DUI awareness. The course is free and taught in Santa Cruz Police Department Community Room, at 155 Center St. in downtown Santa Cruz. For information and to R.S.V.P., call the CHP at 662-0511.
