Air bag issue behind Suzuki recall of 194K vehicles

Suzuki Motor is recalling 193,936 model year 2006-11 Grans Vitara and 2007-11 SX4 vehicles because the OCS sensor mat installed in the front passenger seat may fail from repeated use of the seat, allowing the air bag to deploy regardless of whether the passenger is an adult or child. This can increase the risk of injury to child passengers. In October, Suzuki will notify vehicle owners and dealers will male the repairs for free; however, there are not enough parts to fix all the affected vehicles. Thus, some owners will receive two notices, one about the recall and the other will let them know that parts are available. For information, call Suzuki at 1-800-255-2550. The recall campaign number is VD.
