‘Start Smart’ teen driver class planned for Oct. 3

The CHP's next installment of "Start Smart" will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 in the Santa Cruz Police Department Community Room located at 155 Center St. in Santa Cruz. The course, open to teen and new drivers and their families, delves into defensive driving, traffic laws in California, dynamics of traffic collisions, tips on avoiding traffic collisions, and DUI awareness. Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for 15-20 year olds. The program aims to reduce the number of teenage injuries and deaths that result from traffic crashes.
