Bike summit seeks presenters, workshops, networking bike ride events

The California Bicycle Coalition is seeking presentations, volunteers and sponsors for its 2013 bike summit in Oakland Nov. 7-10. The event's theme is "Mainstreaming the Bike in California Culture." It's goal is to bring together Golden state residents as well as members of the bike industry, health and wellness, planning, design, style, advocacy, technology and tourism who are passionate about the organization's goal to triple the amount of bicycling by 2020. Presentation proposals are being accepted until Friday, Aug. 23 for the event. Specifically, the organization is seeking folks interested in being panelists and speakers. Panels will last for up to 90-minutes while speakers will be limited to 20 minutes. Be sure to include a topic and a short video. CalBike also seeks workshop topics that are interactive and run for 90-minutes, fun and interactive networking bike rides for people to connect and inspire each other, as well as four- to eight-minute video and film presentations from people who cannot attend the summit. Proposals should be a one page Word document written in 11 point font. They must be emailed to Melissa Balmer at In regard to video, film and plenary speaking presentation proposals, email Balmer a link to a 30 second to 1 minute preview on youtube or vimeo with a short introduction to the subject and its relation to the summit. The California by Bike Steering Committee will review all proposals and may request revisions or that they be combined with others.
