Door child lock problem behind Ford recall

Ford Motor Company is recalling 12,569 model year 2013 Ford Explorer, Taurus, and Lincoln MKS vehicles because the child safety locks may switch from an activated to a deactivated position with sufficient door opening and closings. An deactivated child lock could allow the door to be unlocked and opened from the inside, possibly causing personal injury to an unrestrained child. Ford will notify vehicle owners and dealers will replace the locks free of charge, if necessary. The recall is to begin Aug. 5. The recall number is 13S07.
