Bright head lamps lead to Toyota recall

Toyota is recalling 11,489 vehicles because their front lamp are too bright. Certain model year 2007-13 FJ Cruiser vehicles equipped with a Toyota Auxiliary Driving Lamp Kits mounted to the front bumper are impacted by the recall. The lamp assemblies include 55 watt bulbs. Due to this wattage and mounting angle, the combined upper beam headlamps and auxiliary lamps are exceed the maximum light output allowed for an upper beam headlamp, and are thus too bright. This brightness can cause increased glare for incoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. Toyota will reach out to owners while dealers will replace the 55 watt bulbs with less bright 35 watt bulbs for free. The recall is to begin in late May.
