Ribbon cutting ceremony for Hwy 1/Salinas Road Interchange project

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 to celebrate the completion of the Highway 1/Salinas Road Interchange. The event will be held at the Hilltop Road/Salinas Road Park and Ride lot, located southwest side of new interchange. Speakers will include State Senator Bill Monning, Monterey County Supervisor Lou Calcagno, North County Fire Chief Chris Orman and Caltrans District Director Tim Gubbins. The project aimed to end the dangerous left turning movements once made at that intersection, which is used by 43,000 vehicles daily. The interchange, located just north of Moss Landing near the Santa Cruz county line, now includes a new three lane overpass at Highway 1, with three diamond-type ramps and one southbound loop on-ramp.
