Honda recalls of 204K vehicles due to brake-shift interlock blocking mechanism problem

Honda is recalling 204,169 model year 201213 CR-V and Odyssey vehicles, as well as model year 2013 Acura RDX vehicles because, during sub-freezing temperatures, the brake-shift interlock blocking mechanism may become slow and allow the gear selector to be moved out of the “park” position without pressing the brake pedal. This may allow affected vehicles to roll away and cause a crash. Honda will notify vehicle owners and dealers will install an updated brake shift interlock mechanism for free. The recall is to begin May 3. Honda's recall numbers are S96, S97, and S98. For information, call Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
