Start Smart coming to town April 25

This month's installment of the CHP's free Start Smart course will be offered 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in the Santa Cruz Police Department's Community Room, at 155 Center St. Open to teens and their families, the course offers information about the dangers of driving as they pertain to teens and their passengers. Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year olds. Attendees will hear a presentation from the CHP and watch videos. Information gleaned will include collision dynamics, testimonials of families who have lost loved ones, as well as current traffic laws and defensive driving. At the end of the course, the youths will receive a certificate of completion. For information and to make a reservation, call the Santa Cruz CHP Office at 662-0511.
