Reader sounds off about nonuse of bike helmets by parents

I have observed a foolish trend that deals with bicycles, kids, parents, and safety helmets. Lately, I have seen many kids riding their bikes and wearing their bicycle helmets. Riding next to them is a parent with a bare noggin. Not only is this a stupid thing for the adult -- adult term is suspect -- to do, it sets a very poor example for the young rider. It also reflects poor parenting skills. Act like the grownups you are suppposed to be and wear head protection. A brain is an awful thing to lose. Thank you for listening, Robert Dixon, Soquel
