Software error behind Volvo recall

Volvo is recalling 300 model year 2013 S80 and XC70 vehicles because of a software error. These vehicles may experience a “TPMS Service Required” error appear after about 15 minutes of travel at speeds about 25 mph. If the error occurs, the tire pressure monitoring system, will fail to warn drivers that their tires need air, possibly leading to a blowout and crash. Volvo will notify owners of the recall and dealers will reprogram the TPMS for free. A recall notification schedule has yet to be issued. Vehicle owners can call Volvo at (800) 458-1552.
