AARP Driver Safety course offerings for August

Motorists who have been driving for decades and wish to brush up on the rules of the road, as well as learn how aging and medications impact their skills behind the wheel can sign up for AARP Driver Safety course. The two-part class offered at the Louden Nelson Senior Center, at 301 Center St. in Santa Cruz, will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 and Thursday, Aug. 16. Meanwhile, the Watsonville Adult Education campus, at 294 Green Valley Road in Watsonville will offer a similar session at noon Monday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 28. Each of the two-part sessions at both locations is four hours long and participants must attend both in order to get a certificate of completion they can present to their automobile insurance company for up to 10 percent off their premium. While AARP represents folks over age 50, drivers of all ages are encouraged to sign up. Cost is $12 for members and $14 for non-members.
