RTC hosts ‘Smoother, Safer Streets Workshop’ July Thursday

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission invites the public to attend a Smoother, Safer Streets Workshop 4-6 p.m. Thursday, July 12 in its conference room at 1523 Pacific Ave. The workshop will discuss a proposed ballot measure that would add $10 to the vehicle registration fee. The goal is to raise money to repair streets, as well as improve sidewalks for seniors and the disabled and provide safe routes to school for children. The session will give the community the opportunity to provide feedback on the need for more road maintenance and safe routes for pedestrians. Attendees will learn about the current funding shortfall, the cost to repair roads and the amount of money the proposed ballot measure can raise. Interested parties also can call Rachel Moriconi, project manager, at 460-3203, or Karena Pushnik, public information officer, at 460-3210.
