Honda recalls 50K 2012 Civic vehicles

Owners of model year 2012 Honda Civic vehicles may be hearing from the company regarding a recall effort spawned by reports that the driver's side driveshaft and retaining clip setting process may be incomplete. Honda is recalling 50,190 Civics because this issue can cause the driveshaft to separate. If this happens, the vehicle can lose drive power, allowing it to roll away, cause a collision, and possibly injure someone, if the parking brake has not been set when the gear selector has been placed in the “park” position. The recall is to begin around June 21. Dealers will inspect and replace the driveshaft as needed. Honda's recall number is S40. For information, call the company at (800) 999-1009.
