Planning the future of transportation on the Central Coast

The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission invites the public to a workshop that seeks to pave the way for transportation projects 25 years into the future. The 90-minute “Sustainable Transportation Plan Goals, Targets and Policies” workshop gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Live Oak Senior Center, 1777 Capitola Road. The event comes as the transportation agency begins updating the long-term transportation plan for Santa Cruz County and the Monterey Bay region. The update is part of both the Regional Transportation Plan and the three-county Metropolitan Transportation Plan. While determining the plan's goals, targets and policies, the RTC also seeks to incorporate principles of sustainability into transportation planning and projects. Those principles focus on maximizing the benefits to people, the planet and the economy. Learn more about the Transportation Plan update is available at http://sccrtc.org/funding-planning/long-range-plans/rtp/.
