Felton-Empire Road user sounds off

Dear Street Smarts, I enjoyed the article regarding the dire need to repair Felton-Empire Road. When the powers that be state that there just isn't enough money, they need to include the fact that, based on the County Report on the Budget for 2009-2010 suggested that we 'defer the General Fund contribution to the road fund in the amount of $1.4 million.' Years ago, when it was determined that the gasoline taxes that are collected would be transferable to the General Fund, I told anyone that would listen that eventually the roads would be in critical condition. If those of you driving cars think they're bad, try riding a motorcycle daily. You'll know how dangerous they really are and eventually someone's going to be badly hurt or killed. I wonder how much that will cost the county. Elwin Haddix, Ben Lomond
