Stop for ‘National Stop on Red Week’
This week is National Stop on Red Week. It's a week motorists are being reminded about the importance of safe driving practices, including coming to a full stop at red lights. To commemorate, the Chicago-based Traffic Safety Coalition, an organization that promotes technology as away to improve public safety on the roads nationwide, published an online video that shows what can go wrong when drivers don't stop on red. Each year, 700 people killed by motorists who blow through stop lights, reported the organiztion whose partners include the California Bicycle Coalition, Safe Kids USA, National Safety Council, local chapters of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and National Alliance for Walking and Biking.
