Motorcycle suggestions for rider, passenger

Tuesday is the last day of May, which was Motorcycle Awareness Month. Let's end the month with some riding advice from Doug Green, coordinator of the motorcycle rider safety course taught through Cabrillo College Extension: "To a potential rider, take a motorcycle safety class before you buy a bike," he said. "The course is an inexpensive investment to make sure you really want to ride." Anyone planning to be a passenger on a motorcycle should take the class for three reasons, Green said.
  • To get an appreciation of the things riders go through while navigating their bike.
  • For information being a good passenger who can help the motorcycle driver search out possible hazards on the road.
  • To obtain knowledge on how to react should something happen to the motorcycle driver.
