Drive safe this winter holiday season

The winter holidays are supposed to be a happy, festive time of year. Please keep it that way by following these tips from Caltrans, the California Highway Patrol and the Office of Traffic Safety:
  • Following the rules of the road.
  • With winter weather pounding us for days on end, leave early, have a back-up route in case the one you planned to take is not available and be patient.
  • If you're going to a party and you plan to drink, designate a sober driver to take you home.
  • Be alert for other drivers who appear to be impaired.
  • Dial 911 if you think someone is driving while intoxicated.
  • If you see Caltrans, CHP, tow-related, or other types of emergency¬†vehicles on the side of the road with their warning¬†lights flashing, slow down and try to switch to a travel lane that's farther away from all the action for the safety of the workers walking on the highway.
Happy Holidays and be safe!!
