AARP safe driving course for seniors schedule for first half of New Year

Fred Dunn-Ruiz of the local chapter of the AARP's Driver Safety Program has released the senior driver safety course dates for the first five months of 2011. The classes will occur from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Louden Nelson Community Center, at 301 Center Street in downtown Santa Cruz, on each of the following dates:
  • Monday, Jan. 10 and Wednesday, Jan. 12
  • Wednesday, Feb. 16 and Friday, Feb. 18
  • Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, March 26
  • Tuesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 19
Participants much attend each of the four hour sessions to qualify for a certificate of completion. By presenting the certificate to their insurance company, participants may qualify for a discount on their premium of up to 10-percent. Meanwhile, the AARP also is offering two courses for seniors who are seeking to renew their AARP senior driver certifications. Those will be 12:15 – 4:45 p.m. at the Louden Nelson on:
  • Saturday, Feb. 12
  • Saturday, May 14
