Overgrown plants on High Street need trimming, reader says

Dear Street Smarts, Q: The shrubs and bushes along one side of the hilly portion of High Street are becoming very large. See map: google maps. The plants are covering nearly all of the bike lane. As a driver, it is hard to see bicyclists when coming around the curves heading uphill. Who is responsible for trimming those bushes? Thanks, Scott G., via email A: Cheryl Schmitt, the city of Santa Cruz's bicycle coordinator, says the property owner is responsible for the upkeep of overgrown plant life. She thanks you for the heads-up on this issue and said she'll contact the property owner to rectify it.
