Pay your traffic fine online

Traffic violators, did you know that you can pay your citation online via the Department of Motor Vehicle’s Web site? Simply go to www.dmv.ca.gov and click on “More Online Services.” Now, scroll down to “Traffic Payment,” click it and then choose the county you received the ticket. If you earned your traffic ticket in Santa Cruz County, use https://www4.epay-it.com/scz/. The service, by ePay-It.com, carries a convenience charge of $6.95, plus 3.75 percent of your fine. It allows traffic violators age 18 and up to pay their fine and for traffic school. The site does not accept payment plan arrangements, nor does it accept American Express. Online payments cannot be made between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Pacific Standard Time Monday through Thursday or from 7:50 p.m. to 2 a.m. PST on Friday. On weekends, the system is available all day. For information, visit https://www4.epay-it.com/scz/faq.html.

Wow…that isn’t street smart…you’ll have to pay AT LEAST an extra $10. Why don’t you just kill a tree, write a check, send it by mail and save $9.39. That seems much street-smarter. Why is this even in the newspaper?
