Each Monday, I receive a newsletter from the California Department of Motor Vehicles with a list of about three or four frequently asked questions with answers. One of the questions caught my interest:
“I recently found out I’m allergic to latex,” the question read. “I’m concerned because no one will have any way of knowing this if I’m hospitalized due to an accident. Does the DMV have some kind of form I can fill out and keep with me at all times?”
The answer is, yes. The DMV offers free medical cards that list your blood type, allergies, the name of your physician, and other important medical information. You can carry the card with your driver’s license and/or identification card.
