Notes on Thursday’s D-League game: SC Warriors vs. Springfield Armor

The Santa Cruz Warriors will host their second game at Kaiser Permanente Arena tonight, on Thursday, against the visiting Springfield (Mass.) Armor at 7 p.m.

The Warrriors, at 6-2, are tops in the West Division and own the No. 1 overall spot (because of their .750 winning percentage) in the D-League.

The Armor are 4-5, third in the East Division. Their leading scorer is James Mays, who is averaging 19.7 points per game. He’s also pulling down 12.2 rebounds to go along with 1.2 assists.

Ben Uzoh is second on the team in scoring. He averaged 10.4 minutes over 42 games during the 2010-11 season with the New Jersey Nets. He started in eight games with the Toronto Raptors a year later.

One name in Springfield’s lineup that some may recognize is Christian Polk, who went to Arizona State before transferring to UTEP. Polk was at the open tryouts at Aptos High and was later drafted in the second round of the D-League draft by the Armor.

Polk is averaging 10.2 points per game for Spingfield.

Once again, Golden State assigned Kent Bazemore and Jeremy Tyler to Santa Cruz in time for tonight’s game. Both were in Santa Cruz’s lineup on Sunday night against Bakersfield.
