Corbella, Beito earn All-State honors by Cal-Hi Sports

Scotts Valley High kicker Noah Beito and running back Collin Corbella were each named by Cal-Hi Sports to its 2011 All-State football team for small schools last weekend.

Beito was named first team offense and Corbella garnered a second-team offensive nod after helping lead the Falcons to the Central Coast Section playoffs.

The two football players were among the 61-player list.

As reported yesterday, Aptos senior quarterback Riggs Powell was named second team multi-purpose among medium schools.

Beito, who earned the Sentinel’s Golden Foot award, converted eight field goals and 39 PATs for Scotts Valley this past season, although his mighty leg was perhaps most noticable on kickoffs. On 31 kickoffs, Beito had 24 touchbacks.

Corbella, the Sentinel’s Offensive MVP this season, ran for 13 touchdowns and a school-record 1,869 yards on 267 carries. He broke the previous school record by 618 yards and had nearly 100 carries more than the nearest SCCAL running back.
