What a wonderful reminder that we live in such a beautiful place. Also a good reminder to get out and enjoy it! Thank you Sentinel and Christina.

I live near West Cliff and walk it alot. The 10pm parking curfue is good. There is plenty of side streets people park on anyway, no mater what time it is. In the summer you do hear more gun fire coming from WestCliff. It echos throughout the neighborhood. The West side streets get conjested with people sleeping in their cars so they can be close to the waves . There is a nude beach in one of the coves that attract alot of traffic, very popular parking spot!!
Come to the beach not to cause problems but to have a good time!!
Respect the residents of the West side and WestCliff Drive.

Just to add a note about the 10p.m. parking signs and all of the wonderful and pleantiful parking on all of those side streets there in your neighborhoods. “It wont take you people too very long to ban together and shut down that parking situation as well. Something I see in this beautiful free Santa Cruz (me a 59 yr. resident) is nothing but DO NOT PARK HERE/Tow Away. Has any one ever thought of the impact on this counties visitors?! Really…..Control, Control, Control. Not to mention the State Parks in this counties cutting back of the camping stays for all (local and visitors) to be able to really enjoy time here in this beautiful county. Many $ are being lost yearly in this area due to so much control. Let me tell you, if I was on vacation, I would bypass Santa Cruz and its county areas and go somewhere else to stay.

I guess that you don’t live on a side street off WestCliff. SC doesn’t need the TOURIST that parks over the wknd in front of your house and leaves poop, condons, beer bottles, dirty diapers and garbage in the curb. Where are their $$ going to there? I know, the drug dealers that are waiting in the parking lot!!

What a nice video. Is there a way to download this onto my computer so that I can have it for posterity?

To local lady, I drive around up there quite alot I dont see a lot of that. But I will say you have a good complaint, Tourists it is not…..locals it is. I have seen on many a day S. C. regulars county residents dumping off trash and all of what you have stated. When I see it I confront it or pick it up and not walk away and leave it there. It is my duty as a resident. You have a great day now.

This is a great video as well as the whales video and also would love to have this available to download and to be able to email the videos to family members who were raised here but long since have moved away. Is there a way?

Perhaps one should ask why a town that wants more tourist dollars uses “no Parking” signs &r expensive meters to greet visitors.
Or perhaps why there are only about six RV spaces (Yacht Harbor) for the tens of thousands of well-heeled coastal visitors willing to spend up to $50 a night that pass thru?
2000 acres of greenbelt and they can’t figure out a place to put a campground? Instead they spend a half million dollars a year cleaning up, patrolling, arresting, citing and doing it all over again the next day. Oh , yes and passing a special tax, artfully employing a legal loophole so it doesn’t require 2/3 vote so that you pay for it.
Your P&R Dir. D.Shoemaker generously provided LHFSB with “No Motor Homes or trailers” signs and then rdered Ranger Wallace to start writing criminal infraction citations. Just one little hitch; there was no Council authorization.
The recent spanking the Coastal Commission gave the City about parking limitations reflects a related issue; the City must follow State coastal access guidelines and tidelands grant conditions every time it posts new “rules”.
Let’s face it, the City lacks the resources to enforce all the rules they keep “drainstorming”.
Citizens watch is much more effective in most cases.
They study & study

John this is just the point. I see it everywhere, years ago anyone who passed through this town wheather on foot, by car or motorhome could be able to park anywhere and have a great stay and spend their hard earned cash in this area without the problem of getting ticketed. Just last summer there was a family camping in Big Basin State Park. I admit he had a converted old bus but his family was here from L.A. and the couple was on their hunnymoon…kids, dogs and all set for a wonderful time In a place the husband was raised when he was a boy. Everyday an officer checked them out and told them the laws about not camping and being at the river or dam in town after sundown…..most of the time it was either early in the morning or around 1 or 2 in the afternoon……sometimes this happened a couple of times a day. What is with that….and what is wrong with this picture. Just what did this county and town show these beautiful people certanly not a good time. They were not homeless or transients and what if they were…..They were spending their nights in a State Park for gods sake!

Thanks so much for the video. Santa Cruz will always be my home in my heart. I moved away years ago and have been sorry ever since.
