Hi guys, just wanna thank the Sentinal for the delightful visit to Ano Nuevo with the blind students. I was thrilled and crying joy tears for the wonder of hearing the blind students describe the sounds and feel of this wonderful place. The park ranger with his arm guiding the blind docent women was particularly beautiful and touched the deepest parts of my heart. Thank you for bringing moments like this to us Santa Cruz folks….it softens the incredible sadness of the Iraqi War and makes me feel like there is the possiblity of human kindness and love in this generation.
Sincerely, Marty Mechanic, Live Oak.

This story just came in to us in State Parks HQ, and I was quick to check it out. Ms. Pomotto is delightful and maybe even a little formidable (I just can’t see myself even thinking that I could do such an adventurous thing as guide other blind people around a group of enormous wild animals.). It brought back my last visit to Ano Nuevo about ten years ago, and I even recognized a specific place where I vividly recall standing and memorizing a clear shot to scramble up, just in case one of those two-ton fellows decided he didn’t like the way I did my hair that morning.
Ms Pomotto is wonderful, and so is Ranger Edgemon, who is a natural mentor. Encouraging Ms Pomotto is a big, important message to the world that it doesn’t take much to help others become their true selves. Just don’t assume anything about anybody.
And I agree with Mr. Mechanic, the image of the two walking away from the camera is simply beautiful.
Thanks, Edgemon and Pomotto, for a lift to my day.

Kim Pomatto is my big sister, I am so proud of everything that she has done in her life. She is one of the bravest and strongest people i know. Her life has been a long and hard journey, sometimes to much to handle for the family. Everything that has happened to her has mad her stronger, and for that she has been able to help some amazing people. I love my sister with all my heart, she is such a special person and has a great heart. It has been her liflong dream to work with animals, I am so proud of her for making it happen.
