The proper positioning of your GPS device in windshields

If you have an aftermarket Global Positioning System, California law requires you to attach it to a place that will not obstruct your view of the road.

Mount the device either in a:

  • Seven inch square in the lower corner farthest from the driver; or
  • Five inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver and outside of an airbag deployment zone.
