Overheating power window switch assemblies are behind Toyota’s recall of 2,519,424 model year 2007-09 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles.
The overheating switches may melt, possibly causing a fire.
Vehicle owners should expect to hear from Toyota. Meanwhile, dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any damage switches for free. General Motors will handle the repairs for the Pontiac Vibe.
Owners should not make the repairs themselves. They should call Toyota at (800) 331-4331 or GM at (800) 762-2737 .
