Did you know that people under 18 must wear a helmet while operating a bicycle, a non-motorized scooter or a skateboard, on any street or bike trail?
That’s according to California Vehicle Code section 21212.
The helmet must fit properly and meet the standards of either the American Society for Testing and Materials or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the code said.
If a minor is caught using any of the above mentioned modes of transportation without a helmet, his or her parent or legal guardian will be held liable and face a fine of $25.
