Dan Coyro's photo from the Lockheed Fire was honored as second place among breaking news photos in California for papers of the Sentinel's circulation size. Fire crews are dwarfed by backburn flames as they defend a fire line against the advancing Lockheed Fire on Molino Creek Farm Rd. Thursday.
This photo won the California Newspaper Publishers Association award for best sports photo of 2009 in the Sentinel's circulation category: Eric Gustafson, of San Francisco looks out from a barrel as he competes in the senior men's division of the California Bodysurfing Championships in Santa Cruz.
