For the first time ever, the UFC released its own official rankings on Monday and Santa Cruz’s Luke Rockhold was No. 7 in the middleweight division.
Here is the top 10 middleweights:
Champion : Anderson Silva
| 1 | Chris Weidman |
| 2 | Vitor Belfort |
| 3 | Michael Bisping |
| 4 | Yushin Okami |
| 5 | Mark Munoz |
| 6 | Constantinos Philippou |
| 7 | Luke Rockhold |
| 8 | Hector Lombard |
| 9 | Alan Belcher |
| 10 | Tim Boetsch |
Rockhold, a Soquel High alum, has yet to make his UFC debut. He has a 10-1 record, won nine straight matches, and is the last remaining middleweight champion of the now-defunct Strikeforce promotion.
The rankings are decided by the media. One writer explained the process here.
Not surprisingly, the UFC middleweight champion Silva is also the pound-for-pound No. 1-ranked fighter as well.
