Pajaro Valley High softball coach Dee Dee Rivera’s nephew, D.J. Birlem, will be traveling to Australia’s Gold Coast next month for the DownUnder Bowl, and a car wash will be held Saturday in Watsonville in order to raise funds for his trip.
The car wash will be held at the VFW Building, located at 1960 Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no cost, although donations are welcome.
Birlem, a 4.0 student who recently graduated from Alisal High in Salinas, will be representing California at the annual football competition in Australia, which hosts hundreds of players from across the country.
