Been busy with the holidays recently, so I haven’t had a post in a while. But there’s been a lot of news surrounding local Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold. He will be defending his title for the first time against Keith Jardine on Jan. 7 in Las Vegas.
Perhaps the biggest story regarding Rockhold was that he is reportedly staying at Strikeforce instead of moving to UFC as a result of a new deal with Showtime.
Read up on it at MMA Torch.
Pro MMA Now has more on the agreement with Showtime.
Again, there’s been plenty of news about Rockhold in the recent days. Here are some links:
— Head Kick Legend talks about the middleweight division in Strikeforce.
— MMA Mania has a list of the Jan. 7 fight card. The event is on Showtime.
— USA Today had the Rockhold-Souza fight listed as a possible Fight of the Year candidate in MMA.
— A lot of blogs questioned Strikeforce’s pick of Jardine to go up against Rockhold for the middleweight championship when the decision was announced last month. Mostly because while, although a UFC vet, Jardine is practically brand new to Strikeforce and earned a controversial draw in his previous fight. Well, Bleacher Report has named Jardine one of the 25 most undeserving title challengers … EVER! He’s ranked No. 22.
