Well no one said that living in another country was going to be easy…
Life isn’t easy anywhere…
But as has always been said, It’s the challenges that push you to learn the most…
I have been able to travel and see many places and meet innumerable types of people…which creates a more colorful and beautiful existence…
I have been able to focus on my photography and art, my artistic inspirations drawn from my experiences and encounters abroad… When things are novel and exotic, they offer the most unique perspectives…My ability to find the same beauty in the geometry of Budapest that I found in the organic shapes and lines of Santa Cruz, has inspired and driven my recent artistic endeavors… although a world apart, it is all borne of the same tiny building blocks…and it’s paying attention to those details that connects everything…and makes it all less foreign…
Why do we so often forget to pay attention to the details?
Why do we neglect the simple in favor of the complex?
I have found it useful to search out the commonalities – not just differences in my experiences…no matter how unique they are…for people are people wherever we go…people are people, we follow a flow of an ebb of a web, and so thoughtfully so….because people are people, just as winds blow…
People have been supportive here, friendly, giving, thoughtful, inclusive, and genuinely care about me, even though I have only been here for 3 months. I have found good friends and great colleagues. I have learned that even through all of the differences, we are all striving for the same human needs through the same human behaviors…underneath the language and the food and the customs and the urbanity, runs a current that connects us all…
Yet while the current runs true, the details and the colors and the complexity and excitement distract us…and in the middle of all this overwhelming novelty– as you encounter a plethora of eye-opening possibilities…you find that the more that you discover, the more is certain to be out there…yet to be found….
Then the key is in the balance of the details and the bigger spheres…the dance of the known and the mysterious…the yin and the yang…searching out the new and unseen for inspiration and knowledge, yet remembering that the web that holds it all together, is one and the same…the path that you tread will lead to every other path in all directions…yet they all come back to the same place…they all follow the same course of time…and they are all birthed of the same earth…
So essentially, everything that is hard is really just a step to the next pathway…creating new realities…therefore new realms of possibilities… imagine the current immeasurable variables being multiplied by one million…and that’s just one corner of the market…each new city, town, village, country has the potential to multiply those possibilities by another million – squared!…towards an infinite ability to create and recreate …
Hence, as small as we are individually, we are infinitesimally and exponentially capable of radiating any kind of energy anywhere in the world…we have the potential as individuals to make larger ripples with the skipping stones that we toss into the pond that is our own biosphere…yet that biosphere will eventually flow into the next body of water, or soak into the ground around, or even be used by some organism and turned into some other form…then all the energies become connected again…
Consequently each footstep that we take, quakes….
Gives lift and fall to that around it…
Shakes something great and small…
Gives life, takes life…
Wants life, shakes life…
And yet we take another step
And create another wreck
We walk our paths
Without doing the math
Of our exponential effect
To all points of intersect
It ain’t easy but we do…
It’s hard and we follow through
We don’t bite the bullet
We don’t take the fall
We rise to prove
We can take it all -
The strength we can be
We push the wall
That holds us all
We find a way
To save the day
Creating new paths
To Roman baths…
Refreshing, Redressing
Entering a new time and space
Within the same place…
It’s only a moment, a blip in time….
A second, a glance, a bitter squeeze of lime…
To a cliff or a mountain,
We are one grain of sand
To a river or fountain,
We are one drop of sea
To a star in the sky
We no longer be…
Anything at all…
