Investigators: We have leads in doggie murder

Animal Services officers and sheriff’s deputies plan to interview a couple of people who might be involved with the killing of Ruby, the friendly dog from Henfling’s Tavern in Ben Lomond that was found shot to death earlier this week.

Ruby
“We havea few persons of interest,” Animal Control supervisor Todd Stosuy said today.

His officers are working with the Sheriff’s Office on the case, Stosuy said.

Ruby, a 5-year-old red merle Australian shepherd, went missing Tuesday evening and was found dead on the side of Highway 9 halfway between Felton and Ben Lomond around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

I live in that area and this seems like a crime of convienence….which makes it certain to me that it was someone with a grudge (a) and must also live in the area (b) and recognized their dog (c). Its gotta be a local and someone that frequented the tavern. Im sure they will be caught…I hope!

What an evil person who did this to that innocent dog. What was that person trying to prove ? This person has shown all in the cummunity that he/she is nothing more than a sad and pathetic lowlife. Someone who you can’t ever trust and who most likely would have no problem doing the same thing to a human. A real sicko……My deepest sympathy to Ruby’s owners. I know you are just devestated…To the person who did this: You will be caught…….and charged for this. The sooner the better. It is very sad that there are people like you in the world…..you are a disgrace to humanity.

    To Ruby’s owners,
I send you all my sympathy. I know that you loved Ruby dearly. I feel so sad for you.
I am sure the awful person who did this will be caught.
To the person who did this…..you need psychiatric help!!!!

To the jerk who killed Ruby…you are nothing but a” COWARD ” and I ‘m sure you will be caught soon….

What really disturbs me is the fact that all these lowlife types have guns. And if they will shoot an innocent dog, they will probably hurt or kill a person. Too many guns out there in our world.

I am also very sad for the dogs owners loss of their pet.

My Mom could be right, in that it might be because of the red bandana (bloods), and they are blue (crips). Unfortunately, there are gangsters out their with that simple/hateful mentality.

  • Stago // Sep 22, 2007 at 11:08 pm

The gang mentality really is that low. Interesting concept. You really have to regress from any civilized thought to figure out how someone could be okay with something so cruel. It’s really sick, and seems to be moving in to our beautiful place here. From creeps trying to snatch kids by Gault School, to shots fired on the wharf today, sureno crip gangs (blue13), and norteno blood (red14) gangs tagging territories around town, abatement people having harder times keeping up with the graffiti, shootings and stabbings, women being sexually assaulted downtown. It’s starting to get more like LA around here. Pretty scary.

I’ve never forgotten the UC (honor) student who was beaten into a vegetable back in the 90′s by a bunch of nortenos, while jogging on East Cliff Drive, up by the river point, because he was wearing a blue sweatband, which is a rival crip gang color. They didn’t care he was not affiliated. SCPD vowed to catch those gangsters, in a small white truck, and never did…..Or the kid who was shot at a couple of years ago, up by 24 Hour Fitness, because he was simply wearing a red hat. …It’s within the realm of possibilities that an innocent dog could be shot for the same rationale. ..Too bad this horrible thing happened. I/we are just trying to figure out how.

It seems that horrible things are happening around here more than we even know. The sad thing is our police department is totally inept at solving any of the crimes. Cold cases keep on collecting in the dept. and keep getting colder…..
Hopefully, the animal services will be better at getting this sick perp. Luckily there are alot of animal lovers and activists in this county and the pathetic person who shot Ruby will pay his dues.
As for the gang possiblity…well, you never know..especially since there is already one particular gang type “family” who do live in this area and who are always breaking the law, beating up people etc.I am sure some of you out there know who I am talking about. They are constantly giving the police and the public a horrible time. Never get on their bad side. One or two of them is already locked up but more individuals from this family are still roamimg the streets. I would not be a bit suprised if this horrible family had an arguement with Ruby’s owners and killed Ruby in revenge. Just a thought…

I think there should be a registry of animal abuse offenders just as there is a registry of sex offenders, so that people can check if someone this sick is living nearby.

  • Bones // Sep 24, 2007 at 4:55 pm

That’s a good idea. Serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer start with animals, according to a documentary on him, I saw on court t.v.

Thanks moderator for deleting the one who insulted by Mom. Please also delete my responses. Sorry, it’s hard to be nice when someone attacks your only living relative, who’s always been there for me.
