Four California JC teams will each play two, two-hour scrimmages beginning at 9 a.m. to at Cabrillo College’s baseball field. All four teams are ranked in the top 20 of the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association preseason poll.
No. 15 Cabrillo will face No. 9 Chabot in the first scrimmage.
At 11 a.m., Chabot takes on No. 10 San Joaquin Delta.
No. 3 Fresno City and Delta square off at 1 p.m. and No. 15 Cabrillo and Fresno cap the event with a 3 p.m. session.
Cabrillo’s spring roster features 18 pitchers, including Zach Settles (SLV) and Nat Hamby (Soquel), 11 infielders, several of whom have pitching experience, 14 outfielders and four catchers, including Erick Colombini (Santa Cruz) and Tyler Silva (Soquel).
Of the 47 players listed on the school’s website, 13 attended high schools in Santa Cruz County. Three players competed in the West Catholic Athletic League and four are kick-backs from four-year schools.
