Soquel High junior Hunter Parkinson, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound pitcher, has given a verbal commitment to play at University of San Diego. He made his decision Sunday.
The powerful and sturdy left-hander, whose velocity has topped out at 90 mph, went 2-1 last season with a 1.80 ERA in 35 innings for the Knights. He allowed 17 hits while striking out 46 batters and walking 20.
He also played varsity for the Knights as a freshman.
He played for NorCal Baseball’s 17U team over the summer.
