Soquel High’s Chris Viall, a 6-foot-9 right-handed pitcher who has verbally committed to Stanford University, and Aptos catcher Bryan Bucher — both incoming seniors — are competing at the prestigious Area Code Games at Blair Field in Long Beach this week.
Viall will share his experiences daily in a week-long series while at the well-attended showcase, which draws as many as 300 college and professional coaches and scouts.
His first postcard, so to be speak, ran in Monday’s sports section.
Coincidently, the pitcher writes as well as he throws. He needed little in the way of editing.
