The Waves 13U baseball team is 1-1 in pool play at Elite 32 World Series in Orlando.
It lost its opener to Minnesota MAXBAT 10-7, despite leading 6-2 going into the bottom of the fifth and enduring a four-hour rain delay. Team MAXBAT scored 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Waves’ Jack Genrty was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs and teammate Ruben Ibarra smacked a three-run home run.
In its second game, the Waves edged Fire Line Bail Bonds of Miami, 5-4.
Ibarra smacked his second three-run home run in the tournament and James Gomez Jr. also homered.
The Waves play today at 8 a.m. Double-elimination bracket play begins in the afternoon.
