Aptos High alum Eddie Olson needs a big round with a little help today or he’ll have to wait another year to attempt to make the PGA Tour.
In his third go-round at Q-School — he reached the second stage in 2011 and was forced to withdraw in 2010 with injury — he enters today’s final round of the first stage within striking distance of finishing in the top 19, which will advance him to the second stage.
Olson, a former standout at UNLV, has a 216 total, 10 strokes off co-leaders Nathan Tyler, Gregor Main and Nick Delio, and four strokes off the players sitting in 19th.
Olson has 12 birdies, 32 pars, eight bogeys and two double-bogeys through three rounds at Dayton Valley Golf Club in Dayton, Nev.
